The Demolition of Democracy –

Never before, in the history of our grand country, has a flag flown on federal property dedicated to the recognition of an individual. There has never been a flag in the name of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, or any president or political figure in our 245+ year history.

Unfortunately, on January 6, 2021, a flag was flown on the property of the United States Capitol building in honor to Donald J Trump. How does this happen, why did this happen, how do we prevent it from happening again?

In the eyes of the majority of the American people this is a disgrace. This unpatriotic act was accomplished by mob rule under the command of our standing president. In the course of his 23 min. speech on January 6, 2021, before several thousand trump supporters, the president of the United States gave the command to attack our capital building.

20 times president trump told this mob to attack the capital, go down there and ‘fight’, ‘fight for your country’, ‘take the capital’, ‘I’ll be by your side’. All the while the crowd, waving Trump and Confederate flags, chanting ‘kill Mike Pence kill Mike Pence, kill Mike Pence’.

The intention of this group was to attack and take control of the federal capital building in order to assassinate the Vice President of the United States. To this goal, they built a gallows on the front lawn of this politically sacred ground.

They beat and otherwise assaulted the Capitol police assigned to defend and protect the property, the politicians, and the process of democracy necessary on this day to fulfill our obligation to the Constitution of the United States.

Meanwhile, our president returned to his office in order to watch this disgrace play out on his television set in the White House Dining Room. Ignoring requests from his advisers to intervene and stop the insurrection, the president seemed to relish the actions of his followers as they followed his instructions and invaded our Capitol Building.

The January 6th Committee has completed their first round of hearings. There seems to be enough evidence to prove conspiracy to halt or alter the confirmation results of the 2020 presidential election. Mr. Trump and his gang failed to achieve their goal on this day, at the cost of the life’s of several individuals and the many injured Capitol Police Officers attempting to thwart the advances of the rioters.

A dark day in the history of our country indeed.

At the end of the 8th Committee hearing Adam Kinzinger summed it up best when he said… “Whatever your politics, whatever you think about the outcome of the election, we as Americans must all agree on this.

Donald Trump’s conduct on January 6th was a supreme violation of his oath of office and a complete dereliction of his duty to our nation.”

“It is a stain on our history. It is a dishonor to all those who have sacrificed and died in service of our democracy… We — the people must demand more of our politicians and ourselves. Oaths matter, oaths matter more than party tribalism or the cheap thrill of scoring political points.”

“Character matters. Truth matters. If we do not renew our faith and commitment to these principles, this great experiment of ours, our shining beacon on a hill, will not endure.”
